Oh my. I have no idea where June even went and I know July is going to go exactly the same way. Does anyone have any super tips for managing business in a way that also savors the moments you have? Perhaps I should just delete insta for the rest of the summer. Whew. At the moment, that sounds super duper tempting. I've thought about it before--like when people go off of it for a month at the beginning of the year. But since it is a part of the way that I share my art with the world, I've never really considered it for long. I honestly hadn't even thought of it until I started typing this up. Hmm. Something to think about. How are you savoring your summer?
If you learn anything from me, I hope it is this: to notice the beauty that surrounds you. To notice the details. All you have to do it look at it and say, "That's beautiful." You don't have to capture it to celebrate it. Goodness, if I took photos of everything that I thought was beautiful, I'd never get anywhere. I truly believe that the celebration of beauty is a form of worship. The God of the Bible is one of beauty and creativity. He created SO many things that exist for seemingly no reason. Why are all of these plants here? Why do they have such intricate details and texture? Why did He create so much more beauty than we could possibly ever see in a lifetime? Because that's who He is. He created beautiful things not so that we could be happier people. Not for us to consume. He created all of the intricacies of the everything because it is simply who He is--it flows out of His nature. May the beauty that is in the earth, turn your heart towards the majestic, intimate, Creator of all.
Psalms 8:3,4,9 (ESV)
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all of the earth!
Switching gears.Taking photos like this of my husband makes me think that I need to get into taking more beautiful photos of people in their natural habitat. *but oh no, that might mean actually talking to strangers to try and convince them that photos aren't weird and can be fun and not always awkward*
Switching gears again. How the lighting and editing in an image changes the way it feels. Top left is the unedited RAW. Which one is your favorite? (L-R, Top-Bottom: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) My favorite is #5. If you want to read about why editing is important (and what it is and isn’t) go read my Photo Guide.
oh summer. you teach me to enjoy things while they are here.
June. Hello and goodbye. July--I know you're going to be over before I can blink. Ah, I need to learn to savor each day. Send me all of your tips! Much love, Melody Rose
